Mission

“Promoting the sovereignty, environmental health, and cultural health of Indigenous Nations through community-based appropriate technology development work.”

Erecting a wind generator.
Native communities have long struggled to maintain the teachings of our traditional cultures amidst the forces of colonization and the changing needs of our peoples. Conventional means of economic development have opened up our communities to highly controversial projects that have been destructive of our lands and divisive of our peoples. In these times, it has become apparent that we must find a way to develop quality housing, water systems, energy sources, and food systems for our people in a way that honors our traditional values of balance with our homelands and community-based decision making.
The Sustainable Nations Development Project is an affiliate of the Seventh Generation Fund, a 501c3 non-profit organization, dedicated to promoting and maintaining the uniqueness of Native Peoples and Nations.
