At the request of local community members, we have initiated Sustainable Nations Youth!
Our Vision
- We see that the values of material wealth, and individualism without responsibility have led to the devastation of our people and our homelands.
- We are working to disengage from these values for the future of our people through the process of decolonization. The decolonization of our lands and minds depends upon the strengthening of our Indigenous culture!
- We encourage re-learning our languages, the key to our understanding.
- We encourage participating in ceremony, the link to our past and future.
- We honor and respect our women, children, men, and elders.
- We work towards revitalizing our connection to our homeland as the foundation of existence, food, medicine, water, and shelter.
What We Do
- We educate ourselves about food security, traditional medicine, natural building, renewable energy, and caring for our water systems.
- We define which modern technologies are in line with our traditional values.
- We offer services to our communities, including energy efficiency evaluations, small renewable energy installations, the creation of gardens and local herbal medicine teach-ins.
- We reach out to elders to share their knowledge with us.
- We construct cob, straw bale, and traditional buildings.
- We teach our communities about graywater systems, and composting toilets, and build them.
- We plant seeds for survival and hope.
